The SA has become aware of comments from fans this week about the end of season awards ceremony being designated an all-ticket event this year. Last year, because of safety reasons, this ceremony was held on the pitch; the year before the event was held in the 76 Lounge but the room capacity meant that not everyone who wanted to see this could be admitted.
It was decided with the Club that, for safety reasons this year, the event should be ticketed and we thus proceeded to offer tickets to SA members who wanted to attend. The take up was lower than we anticipated which means that there is a limited number of tickets available for non-members. The Club is now proposing to issue these on a first come, first served basis and they will be available from the club shop from 10am on Saturday morning.
Each year it’s the SA that administers this event including paying for any catering required and the trophies themselves plus the engraving. Those attending the event will be able to see the winners presented with their award. As usual there are three categories:
“SA Player of the Year” – the player who has accumulated most votes from SA members
“Young Player of the Year” – an award in memory of (Pitbull) a former SA member
“Players’ Player of the Year” – an award to the player who has accumulated the most votes from the rest of the playing squad.
As a committee we work hard to organise this event and do our best to make it an enjoyable event.
We will reflect after Saturday and liaise with the Club to make our 2025 event a success.
